CEL Successful With 2 Major Fleet Deals
5/9/11
CEL’s Mining & Quarry Division successfully
closed two separate fleet deals with Gezhouba Xinjiang Engineering Bureau
and China Resources Cement (CRC) in April 2011. The total contract value
exceeds RMB200 million.
In Xinjiang, CEL will be introducing for
the first time in China, the 793D trucks and, in the south, CRC will be
the first local cement manufacturer in our territory to mobilize a complete
Caterpillar quarry fleet.
CEL will be providing 24 x 7 on-site support
to ensure minimum disruption to the operations of both our customers to
make sure that production is maximised and operational efficiency improved
at the mine site.

Cat 793D Breakthrough in China
After two years of hard work by CEL’s M&Q
team in Urumchi and the Caterpillar’s Global Mining team in Beijing, we
successfully concluded a landmark deal with Gezhouba for the supply of
4 x 793D trucks, 1 x D10T and 1 x 834H to be used at Shenhua Xinjiang’s
coal mine at Wucaiwan, Zhundong. The contract was signed on 30 March 2011.
Gezhouba was appointed one of the overburden
removal contractors to Shenhua Xinjiang. The Zhundong coal mine, which
has a coal reserve of 60 billion metric tones of coal, is initially expected
to produce 20 million metric tones of coal per annum.
The 793D trucks will be the first of its
kind in China and are expected to be delivered in August 2011. It is expected
that this fleet will be supported by a 10-year Maintenance and Repair Contract.
Jeffri Davidson, CEL’s Managing Director
said that, “we need to thank our M&Q team for their hard work and
perseverance in working with Shenhua and Gezhouba over such a long period”.
He added that, “this is a tremendous opportunity to showcase these
trucks, which have been widely accepted by mining companies throughout
the world, to the mining community in Xinjiang. As more mines open
up, we hope that will be the catalyst of even more opportunities for Caterpillar
equipment in the mining space

CRC to Purchase Caterpillars
for its Quarry Fleet
Two years of hard work also finally paid
off when CRC announced the purchase of a largely Caterpillar fleet for
its new cement and quarry operations in Fengkai, Guangdong. This fleet
consisting of 12 x 773E, 6 x 385FS, 6 x 988H, 1 x 374D, is a significant
break-through into what is a very large and important state-owned cement
producer.
“We have strong faith in the reliability,
productivity and the lower life cycle cost of Caterpillar products,” said
Gary Lau, General Manager – Mining & Quarry. “Both CEL’s provincial
M&Q team in Guangxi and Guangdong, with strong support from Caterpillar’s
Core Industry team did an outstanding job in engaging the customer and
show casing best practices from other mine sites, to convince the customer
to choose Caterpillar over our competition,” added Gary Lau.
The Caterpillar fleet will be used in CRC
Fengkai, which will be the single largest cement plant in Asia. Clement
Lo, General Manager – Customer Services Div. has committed to provide
the best possible on-site service and parts support to make sure that CRC’s
Fengkai operations will become the reference site for Caterpillar machines.
